What is the Lo Shu Grid?
The Lo Shu is a 3×3 square of the digits 1–9. In this calculator, each cell repeats that digit once for every time it appears in the birth date.
A square that already contains 1 through 9
The Lo Shu is an ancient 3×3 arrangement in which every row, column, and diagonal sums to 15. The traditional layout is 4–9–2 on the top row, 3–5–7 in the middle, and 8–1–6 on the bottom. That pattern is the grid itself, not a result of your date.
What the birth date adds is a count. Each time a digit 1–9 appears in the day, month, or year, that palace is marked by repeating the digit (two 4s show as 4, 4). Empty cells are digits the date never uses. Those absences are sometimes called planes or arrows in later popular systems.
How to look at the result
Read the grid as a map of which digits are present, repeated, or missing in the date, laid onto the traditional square. Combined with Life Path — which is also from the date — it is a second view of the same numbers, not a second birth chart.
